HARVEST MOON

The harvest moon is the twelfth moon of the Celtic year and is represented as The Vine moon, it runs from 2nd September until 29th September. It passes through the Autumn equinox and carries us into the dark time in the yearly circle.
True Pagans will associate this time with inward reflection, to find the creativity within the self.
The vine can be used in the festivals of "Mabon" and "Autumn Equinox". The qualities that this period can bring to the individual include, psychic development, prophecy, unification, tenacity and ecstasy of body and mind.
The vine is a long living climbing shrub, with large lobed leaves and clusters of green or white flowers. Their fruit is grapes which range in colour from pale green or yellow to red, purple or black
The grape is a laxative and diuretic. Fasting except for grape fruit juice is often recommended by herbalists for the effective treatment of many chronic diseases. Treating poor blood circulation, low blood pressure, anaemia, liver and skin conditions.
Brambles and other woody perenial shrubs can also be included as vines and the Blackberry is the fruit of the fairies within Celtic tradition. To eat of the berries will give one vitality and life force, which in turn will reward one with joy and exhilaration.
This is a feminine time in the Celtic year and the moon magic can be utilised for fertility, death and rebirth, crop/garden magic, money and mental powers, and freedom of spirit.
