Here again with dowdy sad faces
No important friends in influential places
Struggling on with these burdens and strife
The usual drudgery of working class life



There again with the begging hand
Degraded and shameless not part of the band
blowing the trumpet of commercial success
While making ends meet in a terrible mess



Here once more with new, second hand clothes
saved for and bought just to keep a clean nose
Making threads stretch and just making do
A plastic carrier bag in the soul of the shoe
